Title: Change to J1.5 framework. New translation directions.
Post by: john on May 11, 2008, 09:41:14 am
Hello to all translators.

The latest nightly build has been converted to use the J1.5 framework for translations.

The conversion has been done by a script so the new language files might still contain errors.
Anybody interested in contributing to the translations can find the converted files in the attached archive.

Further information about language files/packages can be found here :
http://dev.joomla.org/content/view/43/66/ (http://dev.joomla.org/content/view/43/66/)

Please post your updated translations in the right forum and we will add them to the component.

If your language provides a formal and informal flavour please post them here as following:
- the formal language as INI file
- the informal language as a Joomla1.5 language installation package.

Thank you

John

The latest english language file is also now always available at from the root nightly directory: http://rsgallery2.net/nightly/en-GB.com_rsgallery2.ini

So you should use that file as the basis for your translated text.

Hi, I made a translation to Brazilian Portuguese based on en-GB file in Nightly rooo directory. I just pasted it on languages folders in my test site and all worked fine.

Now I like to know 2 things:

1 - How can I do to this language install with fresh installation of RSGallery2 ? I added the file to the zip file and changed the xml like the other languages, but it did copy the language, need to be pasted manually.

2 - Where can I send my file to be part of the RSGallery2 J1.5 Package ? For now, I will try attach it here.

Good job from all programmers of RSGallery, it?s been the best Joomla Gallery for now.

I say Thank you for this great component.  :P

Here is the error msg I got when I do a fresh install with the language file inside:

JInstaller::install: File 'D:\Servidor\www\153\tmp\install_482da035632eb\language\pt-BR.com_rsgallery2.ini' do not exist
JInstaller::install: File 'D:\Servidor\www\153\tmp\install_482da035632eb\language\pt-BR.com_rsgallery2.ini' do not exist

Do you have any idea of why is saying this? The both languages files aren?t copied to language folders: en-GB or pt-BR
For both I need to copy manually.

I solved the problem with the languages files. Here is the fixed file based on recent Nightly 769.

In the dutch language forum an updated dutch.php (for 1.14.x; april 2nd; http://rsgallery2.net/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,17/topic,15153.msg38939#msg38939) was posted, but it seems that for the ini file in this thread the "old" dutch.php was used.

Can you provide a new dutch.ini file based on the latest dutch.php? Or should all these changes be done again in the dutch.ini file?

Thanks John, and here you go  ;)  the updated dutch file is attached.

I went through the entire Back-end (there seems to be not translation at all for the Front-end) and found the following things (of which I'm not that sure that I should post (all of) them here, but ready to learn though):

Missing strings
- INSTALL_STATUS_MSGS - Upon installation, below "Installation of RSGallery is completed", above the Control Panel icon.
- When you click "** Maintenance **":  MAINT_CONSOLDB_TXT and MAINT_CONSOLDB: in the main english file these result in no text, but in the dutch file I do have text for both of them
- _RSGALLERY_MAINT_OPTIMIZE_SUCCESS when you choose to optimalise your database
- DESCTEMPLATES in the "Manage" part of the Template Manager

The following items seem not translatable (besides the strings between **'s)
- The items "Control Panel", "Batch Upload", "Upload", "Galleries" and "Items" between the "navigation part" that says
"Control Panel" and "Help", and the icons "Global Configuration", etc.
- "Use SecurityImages component" - Global Configuration > Images > Comments
- "SecurityImages component NOT installed!"  - Global Configuration > Images (Comments)
- "No images in gallery yet." - (If there are not images in any galleries yet:  Galleries > Specific Gallery (After text "Gallery thumbnail:")
- "Yes, all items in" - Batch Upload (after text "Specify gallery")
-" Upload limit is" and "Megabytes (set in php.ini)"  - Batch Upload (alhough both "UPLOAD LIMIT IS" and "MEGABYTES (SET IN PHP.INI)" are in the language files
- All text with the "MAINT_REGEN" option if you choose to regenerate your thumbnails.
- In control Panel > Template Manager the following strings are not translated: "Install from directory", "Install directory:", "Install from URL", and "Install URL:" (the top two are translated).

There also are two lines with "GENERAL=General" (identical) in the main en-GB file.

And I got the following fatal error when I click the Migration options in the Control Panel:
"Fatal error: Call to undefined function RSInstall() in \JOOMLAROOT\administrator\components\com_rsgallery2\admin.rsgallery2.php on line 116"

regards,
 mirjam

RSGallery2 1.16.0 (SVN 771) on Joomla 1.5.3 with the dutch (nl_NL) Front-end and Back-end packages added.

Slightly changed dutch file as I just understood where to put the language file to see the translations for the Front-end (\JOOMLAROOT\language\nl-NL\)...

Missing string in Front-end:
- _RSGALLERY_COMMENTS_SEC_IMG_MISS - In comment tab when security images are not installed and  "Use SecurityImages component" is set to yes.

Hi John,

Some time since my last visitation ;)

I came juast to tell you that I like to be candidate to Brazilian Portuguese translator for all new languages issues in new releases for J15. If it?s ok, you can send me by email or just tell me where can I get and post later the new files. This project is great and the Gallery is very impressive in all aspects. So, will be a pleasure to me give this "SO LITTLE" hand in contribute to it.

Congratulations to you and all RsGallery Team.

Hello Recoder.

The translation you have posted here in the forum has already been added to the released version.

If you want to check if there is any changes since you made the last translation you can find the original english file here :http://rsgallery2.net/nightly/en-GB.com_rsgallery2.ini (http://rsgallery2.net/nightly/en-GB.com_rsgallery2.ini).

Using a tool like WinMerge helps a lot to find any changes.

John
