Whenever an image is uploaded, the extension is added to the end of the file name.
For example, if I upload an a file, filename.jpg, when it is uploaded it becomes filename.jpg.jpg.
Can this please be fixed?

That is by design. 

That's how rsgallery tells the difference in the "display" image and the original. the .jpg.jpg is the display
