hi,

i\'m new to rsgallery and joomla. i try to create a website for an artist to display its images. therefore i\'m evaluating several gallery systems. i\'m using version 1.10.2! here are my questions:

1.) is it possible to define custom fields to describe the images uploaded? (such as \'title\', \'artist\', \'technique\', \'year of creation\', and so one ...)

currently there are only \'title\' and an additional \'description\'. that\'s not enough for my purposes!

2.) a second very important issue relates to the image resize and thumb generation routine. why are horizontal images (means \"width > height\") processed in the same way as vertical (\"height > width\") ones? the effect is that horizontal images are display too small, becaus all (!) kind of images are resized to the same width.

3.) i don\'t want to allow users to comment the images and to vote for them. that\'s why i\'d like to remove these \'tabs\' from the image view on the frontend! also i don\'t like \'EXIF\' there Wink how is it possible?

thank you.

To answer your questions in order:
1. At the moment it is not possible. This does sound like an interesting enhancement. It will not be available for the first stable release though.

2. This is an issue that every gallery system has. To have some sort of consistent look, some systems rescale to a fixed heigth, others rescale to a fixed with. What would you like to see??

3. You can hide the tabs from the backend. Goto Configuration and goto the tab Frontend.

Good luck,

It\'s a pity. i definitely need those additional data fields Sad

an very easy solution for this problem would be to define a sort of bounding box (for example 300x300). every image is scaled so, that it fits into this bounding box. the gallery2 system works so.

so here are the results for the 3 case:
[li]a quadratic image (maybe 400x400) gets scaled to 300x300[/li]
[li]a portrait format image (maybe 200x500) gets scaled to 120x300[/li]
[li]a landscape format image (maybe 500x400) gets scaled to 300x240[/li]

i think this is a better approach, than rescaling all kind of images to a fixed width or height.

maybe the user should decide which method shall be used.

ciao

thanks for the ideas k4simir.  there are some technical solutions that could provide for that.  you\'ll porbably see more display options in the near future.
