Use RSGallery2 images in joomla content
Hello
I had a quick search to see if this was covered already, but could not find anything - sorry if this is a duplicate.
I could not find any obvious way to use the gallery images in \"normal\" content, ie with the images tab in content creation page. One way I have found as a workaround for this is to configure RSGallery to use /images/stories/rsgallery/ as the base directory for the {original|display|thumb} directories. This makes those directories available for use in content (anything under stories is available).
Is there another way that I am missing to be able to use gallery images in content?
Cheers,

Something of this nature is not yet available yet. But I do like your work around, very clever.
In the future a mambot that will produce a thumbnail with a link to the picture will be created.

Re:Use RSGallery2 images in joomla content
that\'s hilarious anon, nice work.
the other thing you could do is publish a gallery with the pictures, right click a picture and choose Copy Image Location (in firefox).
then you can use that URL to insert images in your content.

Sorry to dig this old thread up... but.. this post is to Daniel.
Daniel, are you saying that RSGallery isnt full function at this moment? I mean I\'ve successful installed RSGallery2 in Joomla and also success uploaded the pictures. However, what am I suppose to do now? How do I add it to categorty or content to display the gallery?
Just to clarfity things up...these questions are answered becauseits still under development?

Re:Use RSGallery2 images in joomla content
the component is indeed still under construction, but a lot of functionality is allready there
acl however, what you need to restrict acces to certain galleries isn\'t, this is next on our list

Re:Use RSGallery2 images in joomla content
Now that explains everything... move that partial list to the top j/k hehe
well I like RSGallery.. its wonderful very organization but I like mulitply galleries.. I just cant seem to find any program! I have a website that was made from stratch with no template helper or whatever. CSS and everything was from stratch and I have 2 galleries but it was in different folder and the program itself is Gallery. You can see
www.zerohyper.com
but it hasnt been updated. Its my personal website but I am working on another website that I am trying to create separate gallery. Thought I\'d let you know what\'s my plan. You guys keep up good work! Hope it\'ll be done.. soon.. will it? heh

I do not really understand what your problem is with RSgallery2. Is it that you can\'t place galleries behind a password?

Re:Use RSGallery2 images in joomla content
I am sorry if i wasnt clear with my English.. even though its not my first language.. Sign Language is.. (I am Deaf..get a hint :-P )
Back to the point.. I\'ll try to clear up.
I wanted to add \"Gallery\" to the main menu, however, I didnt want it to be linked to component (RSGallery) itself. I\'d like to create a link to a section and then create a link for each gallery. One for Family, One for vacation, one for Friend, etc..so on. I am very organized person. Therefore, if i wanted to see Family gallery and of course it\'ll show you each album that you\'d like to view like for example for a link \"My brother just had a baby boy\" or \"My mom\'s retirement party\" if I wanted to see my bro\'s baby pictures and I\'d click on that link and see all of pictures...
I .. hope that i make it clear for you? let me know

Re:Use RSGallery2 images in joomla content
you could do this by first creating the link to the component and putting that under the special accces level
then login to the frontpage, you would be able to see the components mainpage, now copy the url for lets say the friends gallery and add a menu item url to the menu using that url and give it public acces rights
in theory this should work as they wouldn\'t be able to acces the mainpage, but I\'m not sure because the ItemId remains the same
you can also set the Mainpage link not to show by editing either the source code for rsgallery2 or the css
good luck

Re:Use RSGallery2 images in joomla content
You mean... I can create a link \"Friends Gallery\" and have few albums in it.. also.. at the SAME TIME i can create \"Vacation Gallery\" and have different albums? I\'d like to add Friends Gallery and Vacation Gallery links on menu that will lead them to separate album list
Its possible?

Re:Use RSGallery2 images in joomla content
you can place different galleries inside galleries, so they are subgalleries
Say you create the main galleries:
Friends Gallery and Vacation Gallery
In Friends Gallery you create the subgalleries of some friends, lets say Gary and Lola
Now first at a link to the RSGallery2 component and give it the special acces level in the menu manager. When you login to the frontend using your superadmin login (I asume you have that) the you will see the two galleries Friends Gallery and Vacation Gallery and in the Friends Gallery are the two subgalleries listed.
When you copy the url to the gallerie Friends Gallery by rightclicking the link then you can use this to add a link to the menu.
Go to the menu manager in your Joomla! backend and to the menu where you want to place the link. Click new and select Link - Url. Fill in the Url you just copied and give the menu-item a name and public access.
Now when a visiter comes to your site, he, or she, should be able to click the link to the Friends Gallery and see the subgalleries.
You can repeat this process for the Vacation Gallery.
If you can\'t get it to work with this, let me know, but I don\'t think I\'ll be able to be more clear on this.
