{rscat random catid=# link max=# cols=#}

number of images will be alway $pagesize (from component)

example
{rscat random}
random images from all the gallery images

{rscat random link}
random images from all the gallery images with link to the original gallery on each image !!!

{rscat catid=# }
images from catid. # stand for catagory number in the gallery.

{rscat catid=# link}
images from catid. # stand for catagory number in the gallery with link to the original gallery.

{rscat catid=# random}
random images from catid. # stand for catagory number in the gallery (not the first images)

{rscat catid=# random link}
random images from catid. # stand for catagory number in the gallery (not the first images) with link to the original gallery.

i've tried it and it works ok, only problem is the, thumbnails don't link to the pictures in the gallery

maybe you could also write a plugin for just one picture like: {rspic catid=# limitstart=#}

i use lightbox as a popup.
i dont need a link, only link to the catagory itself.

maybe you don't but other people might like it, it would be great if you could modify it, if you don't want to, you are free to choose so, let me know, I might be able to figure out how you got it to work

the links to the pictures in the gallery are not correct, they respond now to limitstart +1 but this should be limitstart -1 (haven't tried it) but otherwise, very good progress keep it up  Grin

i found a little bug but i dont think it should do what your said.
try the new file before you check you files ... i might be worng ...

I installed the 0.6 release, but I have some problem... if my understanding is correct.

1) It seems to me that the number of thumbnails that rscat will show is exactly what is defined for RsGallery for the thumbnails of a specific gallery...
This is not worthful...
I think that showing only one image it is more flexible. If you need more than one, simply code twise or more the rscat command...

2) I'm not able to see the thumbnails correctly. Only a little square become visible. Clicking on that the actual image become visible...

the mambot isn't to display 1 image.
did you chage the directories of rsgallery ?
if not, maybe it's because you dont have lightbox in your site
add the word link after the catid and then test it .....
i have made examples so it will be easy to understand....

Yes I changed the RsGallery default folder.

I moved it from images/ to images/stories
