Hello Forum Members

When i have not seen an Mambot or a feature of RS Gallery 2, then please could somoene show me the feature...

What i like to do:
I would like to use the same thumbnails and images to place in the text of joomla articles.
I do this now with zoom and the  Zoom Thumb mambot. MosCodeThumb is no longer developed http://mamboxchange.com/projects/zoomthumb  Sad
This mambot makes it possible to use thumbnail images from the gallery module to be used in content items. Like here  http://www.tanners.ch/index.php or here http://www.tanners.ch/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=42&Itemid=17
Click on the thumbnails in the text area....    The code to insert thumbs in the text ist {moszoomthumb imgid=118 style_m=3}  or {moszoomthumb imgid=25}

Is this with RSgallery 2 possible?
I use Version 1.13.1 Aplha (SVN 41) and the newest Mambots, but have not seen something like that

RS Items comes close, but i would like tho place it in the text and say exact which picture.

Any advice or new mambots welcome  Wink

The bot the OP mentioned can place a specific thumbnail in stead of a random pic. I played with it for a while, before using RSgallery2. Nowadays I just use TinyMCE to put thumbnails (including links) in content. It's a bit more cumersome, but works anyway.

Daniel----
That bot_rscat1.zip file killed my site (just installing it) when I tried to login.
Even unpublishing it was no good, had to uninstall the darned thing.

Thank you very much, but the posts gives more questions than answers:
1.
- As i see, the bot rscat shows random pictures from the gallery, not one specific one
- I will test it, but not on my production site as: Piran's answer ist not veri enthusiastic about the bot
- The code of the bot looks not very clear to me (API?, ACL aware?, configuration aware, clear dokumentation), of course an better work i could ever do with my programming skills

2.
Question to the TinyMCE idea: do you use the same thumbnails and pictures or do you upload the same photo twice, one for the gallery one for in-text placements?

The idea of one gallery and many divverent uses of those pictures in the galleri and in the text stories is still in my mind.

Thank you so far, hope there are programmers around seeing their oportunity...

Most of the time I use the same thumbnails and pic. There's no need to upload it twice.

You can see it in action at: yasmijn.rammeloo.com (she's my 5 week old daughter)

Good luck,

There is a bot in the works to show individual Images with three different size attributes that can be passed to the mambot: thumb, original, and display along with the description next to it.  It will be released soon, I hope.  the way that it works is {rsg2_display: ImageID, Size, Caption} ImageID is an INT, Size is either display, original, or thumb, caption is a bool.  Let me know if you guys want any other features added to it.

Hi Jonathan,

(perhaps you should open a new thread for this new bot)

- I hope it will be possible to use css to style the inserted image (borders, margin etc).
- ALT text

Good luck! This might be what I'm looking for...

Wow!   Sounds great!

Another feature could be "onclick"    {rsg2_display: ImageID, Size, Caption, OnClick}   migth be:
- nothin:  just the image in the text
- galleryimage: click opens the image in the gallery
- gallery: click opens the gallery, the image belongs to
- popup: opens image in original size in popup window
- lightbox:  opens image in original size in an lightbox style  (maybe Verson 1.1  Wink  )

 Looking forward to test !

greetings

re:: OnClick not a bad idea, I will have to think on this one, better yet can I get some opinions from some others as well because I think that is alot of params for a bot.  I do have another bot that will be release soon that displays the gallery using a gallery template inside content. If you guys think this is sufficient  but if you guys want the OnClick parameter I do not mind placing it inside the bot. Let me know what ya think....

WWW

the onclick param could be useful, certainly when you don't want the thumbnail to link somewhere at all

also, could it be fun/ useful to have in RSGallery2 a way to generate the 'code' for the plugin call? I know that zoom tried this
this will make it easier for people as they do not have to enter everything manually, but can just select a gallery or image, mark some params and click generate
just a thought

Hello Daniel

About code generation in the backend:
- only minimal functionality would be enough (show the image ID.  To adress the correct image)

Wy is more code generation in the backend not needed:  (in my honest opinion)
- in the gallery backend comes new code, functionality and complexity that only one mambot needs
- in zoom, the generation needs uncounted mouse clicks to get the result of one image, to many to efficiently generate the code for a few thumbs
--> an good readme.txt and documentation is more efficient for the user, i prefer to get only the ID of the images and place the {rsg2_display: ...} code with cut & paste from the documentation

more feedback welcome...

Jonah: could you say more about the new interresting: plg_rsg2_singledisplay .....  ?
