A friend of mine helped me put together the gallery on this site a few months ago. We've been tweaking it a little here and there ever since, but I think it's getting to the point where it's almost all done.
http://artwork.joymonkey.com

It's using RSGallery2 version 1.12.1 and the thumbnail scroller module.
The 3000 full-size images were all too big to use any of the standard upload procedures (some images are over 200mb each), so I ran a Photoshop batch procedure to create thumb and display versions, then FTP'd the thumbnails, display and original files to where they're supposed to go. My friend came up with a little PHP script that checked the contents of the thumbnail, display and original folders to make sure the files matched up in each folder, then another script added the images to the database.
To save bandwidth we adjusted the permissions so only logged-in users get to see the original full-size files, so if you're browsing through the gallery as a guest you can only see the display version and the 'download' button is hidden - I have no idea how he did this but it works great!
He also modified the main gallery page to list the galleries in two columns (this wasn't an option back in v1.12.1) and adjusted the watermark to overlay a PNG image instead of text. The search mambot was also adjusted to display thumbnails for each image.

I tried a few different Joomla gallery components at first, but RSGallery2 seemed to be the only one that could be easily tailored to do what we needed. Thanks for all your hard work!
