WWW

I have made a significant amount of modifications in RSG2 (1.13.1), so DESPITE the fact that my site is in Hebrew, I post it in here, detailed, in order to let people enjoy my modifications as much as they can, and maybe even join my TODOs...

So, here it is:
http://www.spanish.co.il/index.php?option=com_rsgallery2&Itemid=35&rsgTemplate=microMacro

This is my "front", based on Jonah's "microMacro". There were many problems in it that I have fixed:
a. When you pressed an image, you got a lightbox with the ORIGINAL, rather than the DISPLAY version. Fixed.
a1. By doing this, I have changed (a bit) the way the lightbox works. One can still watch the ORIGINAL images using the lightbox, via the galleries (see next...)
b. I have changed the tooltip a bit.
c. If one presses the big image in the right side, or the name of the gallery, or the "ENTER" button, he reaches the gallery page, an object that DID NOT EXIST in microMacro.
d. The gallery page is totally new; it has the following features:
d1. Under the title of the gallery there is a line with a link to the user's CB profile.
d2. each image has its title (in the yellow rectangle), its thumbnail, and the links below:
  * download the photo
  * comments (see more ahead)
  * watch the photo in a low / high resolution (using the lightbox)
d3. a fixed place for the owner's description of each image.
e. the comments engine - brand new (did not exist in microMacro) - opens a new pop-up window with the filename and the thumbnail, existing comments and a form available to enter a new comment.
f. a bar "main gallery page / my galleries" that appears only for registered users
g. My galleries engine - using "tables" template. Many new and fixed features:
g1. many overlibs that help the users understand what should they do
g2. normal "save" button instead of Joomla's diskette and X.
g3. fixed "sub-galleries" engine: there were few problems;
  * one could make a gallery a child of its own, and that way that gallery "disappeared"... Now one cannot make it.
  * grandchildren were not shown in the gallery list of their owner; I thought that 2 levels of galleries is more than enough, so I have changed a few things in order to let users make galleries children of 1st-level galleries only.
g4. ACL - I have cancelled the existing ACL, and instead I have made some changes in order to let people upload images ONLY to their own galleries.
g5. DEBUGGING! Now it seems to work in a very stable fashion.
g6. removed the ACL unefficient link from the gallery list.
g7. while editing a photo or a gallery, the existing data is chosen as a default in the updating page, instead of the useless defaults that made each image be "gallery-less" if you didn't notice...
g8. fixed the bug that you update an image to be "gallery-less". Now you HAVE TO choose a gallery, just like when uploading an image.
h. In the front page I have added a new "last images" box. Pressing on one of those images directs the presser to the appropriate gallery page.

TODOS:
1. random photos; will work as the last photos box.
2. fix the pagination in the "my images" list.
3. add easy navigation to the light-box: an option to navigate through the gallery by pressing the sides of the lightbox.
4. EXIF. where?
5. voting? where?
6. a nicer and friendlier upload engine. DRAG-N-DROP?

I invite everyone to join me in my efforts to make RSG2 better. I am willing (of course!) to give all of my codes to everyone. Jonah - would you want to help me merge my updated in your microMacro in order to publish it as a new complete template? I will need a lot of help in that...

That's it, for now. Any questions and comments will be blessed. I am willing to assist you navigate through my gallery whenever you want despite the face that it's in Hebrew (I will translate for you what's needed...)

Thanks for everyone who helped.

Peleg,

Hey Peleg,

I'd love to see a lot of your changes integrated into core.  One thing you should be aware of, there are major changes since 1.13.  Tons of stuff has changed.  Semantic is currently the only template to use the current framework.  The good thing is that there are no more changes scheduled.  So we can concentrate on bug fixing and updating the other templates.  So please, feel free to check out the latest nightly and help us bug fix!

Due to time constraints, I have taken a step back from RSGallery2.  In the event of an emergency, you will need to PM me.
