Hello!

As stated, I am a brand new newbie!   Wink

I need the following functionality for a store's web site:
  • thumbnails in a 4x4 or 5x5 table, with larger image to the right
  • mouseover functionality on the thumbnails to popup a slightly larger image
  • click a thumbnail to display the larger image on the right side
  • click on the larger image to the right and open a details page with larger image(s) and accompanying text

This is an *ideal* list, based on what the store owner has seen. I can imagine similar functionality implemented in a slightly different way. Bottom line, the thinking is to minimize clicks until a user wants to see more detail.

A suggestion was to use store catalog functionality (like VirtueMart). This offers a cool module (LuckyZoom-http://luckyteam.co.uk/products/LuckyZoom/virtuemart) to automagically zoom in on parts of the image...but I am finding the layouts, etc., too restrictive in VirtueMart.

I think RSgallery2 is the way to go, I'm just having a difficult time understanding what I can and can't control (and, of course, how to *do* anything that I can control!  Roll Eyes ).

There will be a gallery that contains only sub-galleries -- so I would prefer to not display "No images in gallery" for that high-level gallery. Can I turn that off?

Is there a way to not display image counts? For example, I have a gallery with 4 sub-galleries. The gallery has "22 images" below its name, and the sub-galleries have [14], etc., next to their names. I'd rather skip the counts completely.

And can a thumbnail open a page with more than one image? For example, now a thumbnail opens an identical image in a larger size. Imagine the thumbnail is a show. Can the detail page have 3 images of that show -front, side, top, for example?

I have read lots and lots of posts to these forums, and have looked at many cool implementations of RSgallery2 -- now I need some specifics.

Thanks in advance for your guidance!

A lot of what you want in your list will be possible with the new templating system that we are implementing, but that still has some bugs in it.

I'll answer your questions in your post below.

As I said, most of it will be possible with the new templating system, but you'll need to code it. As you are a webdesigner (I assume you are), this should not matter.

Easiest would be to replace the language definition in the language file, so just replace the text with nothing (search in english.php when your sites language is english, for the text and delete it).

use .rsg2-galleryList-totalImages{display:none;} for the images count

No, not at the moment, and probably not with the templating system, you would have to hack the code

Daniel, thanks for the info!  Grin

I have seen info on the templating, but no specifics, dates, etc. Is there a planned release date for templates?

Hacking the code can potentially lead to issues when there is an upgrade, right? I'd have to keep very close track of what changes I had made, and potentially remake them, correct?

I found the language file, so I can make that change. Where will I find the image count info you listed below?

Thanks again! This really is an impressive component!

WWW

you can edit rsgallery2.css in the /root/components/com_rsgallery2 folder to change the .rsg2-galleryList-totalImages class

you can already try the templating system by downloading a nightly build, not that these are not recommended for a production site, so test it first before using it as such

Hi,
I am using version 1.14.3 (SVN 649) and would like to hide the "No images in gallery" as well. Unfortunately, I can't find the language file, that is mentioned here. Has the current version these files or do I have to look somewhere else?

Additionally I would like to hide the little "New!" text which just appeared next to the title of the thumbnails of my galleries. I guess, the method to remove that is similar to the removal of the "No images" text. Any hints? Is there a possibility to change the configuration instead of changing the code directly?

Thanks!

Alright, I finally found it under  \administrator\components\com_rsgallery2  :-)
I didn't know that there is important stuff for the rs2gallery component under that path.
Well, one step further on the way to getting to know joomla + components

Bye,
Anneke
