Okay well I had Joomla 1.5x installed and so had to use the latest version of RSGallery2.
Now I also needed a random image module that would display a number of random images on the other Joomla pages kind of like RSitems.
The problem being RSitems is not working with Joomla 1.5 since they changed a lot of the layout for modules, and I really needed that sort of functionality.

So... one sunday with no plans later and I made that module as well as a few others such as popularity and vote based ones.

here's the link to the JoomlaCode page for these...

http://joomlacode.org/gf/project/rsg2_displays

Right now they're just displaying the thumbnails in a vertical table with no real means of controlling which galleries get displayed or which users can see which pictures.
I will probably put in that functionality later (give me a few weeks) but for now I wanted to post this here so those of you who have wanted to update to Joomla 1.5 can now do so and still have something with similar functionality to RSitems.

Unlike RSitems all the modules are seperated so basically if you want random pictures as well as most voted, etc. you'll have to install several of those modules. I did that simply because I wanted to place these things in different parts of each page and having a seperate module for each display seemed like the easiest way to do this.

Any bugs/support would be best placed on the JoomlaCode page but I will check this thread once in a while too just in case.

If you want a demo of how these things look you can see one on the website that is linked in my profile althought it might not be quite "work safe" depending on where you work that is, nothing that would make it R rated but probably PG so... keep that in mind.
I didn't want to post a direct link to it in this thread as I'm not sure if the rules would allow that.

Great work IK !

Thank you so much for this module.

But I ask U if it possibile to make the same module also for "last added" photo, and maybe with the possibility of a vertical scroll of the images (for example 3 photos)

Thank U once more for your work !

This is a great module. I think one simple add-on should be considered.

I am using the random mudule to link to the gallery and was having an issue with the SEF URL. This was because there is no Itemid in the module URL, so it does not take on the same SEF link name as the gallery.

example:
www.mysite.com/component/rsgallery2/item/29/asInline

I manually added JRoute and an item ID variable, but it would be good for the non-technical users if you added a field for this variable.

Result:
www.mysite.com/photo-gallery/item/29/asInline

Well, I'm really a newbie here but how do I change the size of the thumbnails? I've been looking through the code but can't find anything the specifies how small/big the thumbnails should be.

Help would be appriciated.

Does anyone know which code would have to be changed in order to make then show horizontally?

I tried deleting the table code in the "helper.php" file, but they still show vertically.

nice to see that someone fills the gap I have left here, by not upgrading rsitems to work with j1.5

I do not however see why you wouldn't put all of them in one module, as you can always create a new instance of a module in the module manager to get them on different positions

you are welcome of course to take what you can from RSItems as it is open source and we would all benefit if a good module with these functions would exist

keep up the good work!
