I have PHP 5.0.5 installed with Joomla 1.0.7.  Whenever I use RSGallery2 to upload pictures, it gives me the following error message:

Error Image Upload : filename.JPG : error creating display image: GD2 doesn\'t support reading image type jpeg

If I try to upload a gif image, it gives me the following error message:

Error Image Upload : filename.gif : only gif, jpeg and png image types are allowed

How do I fix this?

I have searched the gallery, and the only inquiry similar to mine involved the use of an outdated PHP.

well, if you look closely at the provided thread (the link in my post), o I now see that the link was wrong, here\'s the correct one:
http://rsgallery2.net/component/option,com_simpleboard/Itemid,3/func,view/id,185/catid,3/limit,15/limitstart,0/

Here it says:

yeahh!! I found it!

it\'s actually very easy
be sure that the following code is activated in php.ini (remove the \';\' in front of it)

[code:1]
extension=php_gd2.dll
[/code:1]

\'GD2 bundled (2.0.28 compatible)\' should now be displayed in the RSgallery configuration Thumbnail section and the upload should be working
I run PHP 4.4.2 (latest php4 version) and it worked

keep up the good work guys, with the development of this nice software!

I guess that\'s the answer to your problem.

Daniël

P.S.: no disrespect meant by my former post.

assuming that John is using windows.  for linux you will need to recompile PHP with GD2 support.  or just install Netpbm or ImageMagick.

as previously promised this is now in the FAQ.

Due to time constraints, I have taken a step back from RSGallery2.  In the event of an emergency, you will need to PM me.

How do I edit the php if I\'m using a third party host?  Our website is hosted on the Texas A&M server, and I access Joomla over the internet.

Well, you can\'t. This needs to be done by your hosting service. You can ask them to enable gd2. Most of the times they don\'t mind. Otherwise you might want to change servers, because every gallerysolution uses some kind of serverbased image software.

RSgallery2 supports NetPBM, Imagemagic and GD2. So if your hosting service enables one of them, you should be in the clear.
