i followed the directions in some other posts but when i make the thumbnails bigger they look bad

i also want to make the thumbails on the main gallery page

after you change the settings in the configuration, you need to recreate the thumbnails by removing them manually via ftp and then recreating them one by one using the consolidate database function

the thumbnails are scaled on upload, so only images uploaded, or thumbnails created after the dimension change in the configuration, will have the new dimensions

if i remove them and reupload, will i loose all of the information i already have in the description?  ( i have a feeling the answere is yes )

no, you will not, because you will not delete the database entries, so only delete the thumbnails using an ftp program or joomla!Xplorer, DON'T use the delete images function in the images editor
